How to Enrol

ENROL ONLINE HERE (please read the below information first)

The first step in getting the qualification and / or career you're aiming to achieve, is to become enrolled.

The courses we offer are nationally accredited, designed to suit industry requirements and in many cases are courses needed to meet legislative requirements.

As an RTO, there are guidelines as to what we need to do to ensure we meet compliance in regard to informing and enrolling students. It is important therefore that you enrol with complete understanding of the course and conditions attached to your enrolment.

Our latest Course Guides contain information on Fees, Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL), Credit Transfers, Cancelling or Deferring and Support Services. In addition, they provide details on all units of competency, study modes, funding options, time frames to complete and delivery locations. Further information and policies attached to your enrolment are contained in the Student Handbook and in TLC's Student Policies.

Before you do anything else - read all the above documents as this will help you decide what course is best for you and ensure you make an informed decision.

Entry Requirements

There are no entry requirements as such for our courses, however a year 10 pass in English (or equivalent) is strongly recommended.

In addition, in some industries, particularly early childhood, there are additional requirements in order to study and work in these facilities and it is our resposnibility to ensure you meet these requirements before we accept your enrolment. In addition, TLC is able to offer you funded courses supported by the QLD and NSW governments, but to access this funding there are eligibility criteria to meet.

This section of our website will help you:

  • Apply for any security clearance requirements (where applicable) if you don't yet have this - example Blue Card or Police Check
  • Apply for a Unique Student Identifier (USI)
  • Determine eligibility for funded programs

BLUE CARDS

Blue Card is required for anyone wishing to work in child related employment in Queensland. If you are currently working at an early childhood facility, you would have a blue card already. We will require a copy of your Blue Card and a completed 'link a cardholder' form enabling us to register you as a student with TLC and verify your card.

If you will be looking for work, or attending vocational placement as part of your enrolment, you will require a Student Blue Card. Use our pre-filled application form that lists TLC as our training provider. This form will need to be provided to our trainer or an enrolment officer at time of accepting your enrolment along with required ID (or a prescribed person verification form if we cannot sight your ID ourselves). There is no cost for a Blue Card if you are a student and not yet employed at an early childhood facility.

NATIONAL CRIME CHECK (Police Check)

Police Check is required by anyone wishing to work in child related employment in NSW. Some early childhood facilities in QLD require their staff to have a police check but it is not a mandatory requirement for TLC to be able to complete your enrolment. As mentioned, it is a requirement if you are seeking to enrol in a NSW early childhood course to be able to attend an early childhood facility.

If you already employed at an early childhood facility, your employer will have needed to meet this requirement and we will ask them to confirm they have done so. If you are not yet employed and will be involved in vocational placement, we will require a copy of your Police Chcek with your pre-enrolment application to enable us to verify the certificate online.

If you don't yet have one, you can apply here. It's quick and easy but does require some ID evidence. To be prepared, you can view ID required and collect in advance so you are ready when you apply. There is a cost involved to apply for a National Crime Check. Currently the fee is $29.90 for Vocational Placement students or $49.90 if in paid employment in the relevant industry. Please note: this fee is not payable to TLC but to the company who is issuing the National Crime Check Certificate.

UNIQUE STUDENT IDENTIFIER (USI)

From January 1st, 2015 all learners studying nationally recognised training in Australia are required to have a Unique Student Identifier. If you already have a USI, fabulous! Have it handy as we require this number when you complete the pre-enrolmnet form.

If you don't yet have a USI, you can apply at www.usi.gov.au.

You must ensure you use your legal name and that it matches any ID you provide to TLC relevant to your enrolment application. TLC an apply on your behalf but you wil need to complete an authority form enabling us to do so and include it (along with copies of ID) with your pre-enrolment application.

ELIGIBILITY

Most courses offered by TLC attract governement funding but there are eligibility criteria to meet. TLC staff can assist you over the phone on 1300 327 708 as we know determining eligibility may seem daunting and there are many contributing factors. If you want to explore eligibility yourself and see if you think you may be eligible, you can find supporting information below (if you are unsure of each funding type - please refer back to our Course Guides for more information or return to our Home Page):
